I'm A Multitude Of Persons to You

I

It can be a reassuring thing to know
That once you go, the world is still
Pumping out its worth of life
And you are rather small to it;
Rather small, and brightly lit.

It can be a devastating thing to know,
That once you go, the world is still
Pumping out its worth of life.
And you are there beneath the earth,
Counting out your trouble's worth.

II

We climb the earth in seldom broken silence,
Nothing, she says, is on her mind.
On the peak there is little more to do,
Little left to say for those who chose to stay blind.
